Barcelona organizes the annual International New Rose Competition in Barcelona, coinciding with the season of roses blooming in the gardens of the Rosaleda Cervantes Park (Avenida Diagonal 708-716. Barcelona). The contest, central event of the call, is aimed at breeders and growers of new species of roses.
Parallel to contest a program of activities aimed at all audiences around the roses, as demonstrations of floral art, fine dining or a music concert by the Municipal Band of Barcelona takes place. The International Competition for New Roses Barcelona is organized by the City of Barcelona and has corporate sponsorship and collaboration of organizations in the sector.
The International Competition for New Roses of Barcelona was created in 2001 to promote the dissemination and projection of the rose garden, true to the tradition of Barcelona roserística dating back to the early decades of the last century. It allows to know the developments in the sector while bringing together the most prestigious experts in pinks on the international scene coinciding with the first flowering of roses.
A reserved space meets these gardens roses winners in each edition of the contest, which has a great international recognition. Roses submitted for the contest have been created by breeders from crosses between existing rose bushes. Are unpublished varieties that have not been sold yet.
